Nokia X2, Low Cost Nokia X series Phone

The Nokia X2 is a low cost music phone, priced to sell at just €85 before taxes and subsidy. Despite the low price tag, the X2 comes with a 5 megapixel camera with a flash, a 2.2" QVGA display, microSD expandable memory, Bluetooth and an FM radio. The X2 has a 3.5mm audio socket, and the camera flash can also be used as a torch.. which is a useful feature.

Nokia's X-series range is beginning to fill out a little bit now, and you can see common design themes between this phone and the X5 and X3 phones in particular, which show that Nokia is trying very hard to introduce a similar look to this range of handsets.

This is a GSM-only device running the Series 40 operating system, so it's not as fast or expandable as it looks. However, the X2 does come with the Opera Mini browser, an email client, it can talk to Facebook and it supports EDGE data which is quite a bit faster than plain old GPRS (if your carrier supports it).

The multimedia player copes with MP3, AAC and WMA formats and it can be synchronised with Windows Media Player on a PC. Usefully, the X2 comes with a stereo wired headset although you will need to provide your own microSD card. The X2 has dual speakers and dedicated music keys as well.

This is a lightweight phone coming in at just 81 grams and measuring a fairly typical 111 x 47 x 13mm. The BL-4C battery is quoted as providing up to 13.5 hours talktime and over 25 days standby time which is pretty impressive.

There are two colour combinations available, a black/red scheme and a rather fetching silver/blue scheme that seems to work quite well. Nokia say that the X2 should be available during Q2 2010.

Nokia Symbian^3 & Symbian^4 Os: A detailed Look

Nokia Is still believing that its old warhorse Symbian can still give the New-Gen Os from Apple, Android[google] a run for its money.
That's the reason that Nokia has come up with Symbian^3 & Symbian^4.
Symbian for long has been the dominating force in the Mobile OS Market, with its wide range of Application & Themes & Nokia Hope that with Symbian^3 & Symbian^4 it continues the trend to be ahead of competition.
An improved user experience
There are a range of user experience improvements in Symbian^3, incremental enhancements that make Symbian-based devices easier and more enjoyable to use.
Single tap interaction model – no more “tap to select, tap again to action”. Consistent roll-out of a “single tap” paradigm throughout the touch UI removes the need for double tapping anywhere in the user interface, delivering a more immediate and direct user experience. The implementation includes framework changes that allow 3rd party applications to benefit easily.
Multi-touch gesture support (for things like drag, flick and pinch-to-zoom) comes to many applications, including the Homescreen, Photos and the video player. Any application can integrate support for gestures by taking advantage of the framework and the set of gestures recognised can be customised and extended by device creators.
Better memory management, achieved through writeable data paging, leaves more free RAM for applications.
A faster UI – the Symbian^3 user interface uses the new graphics architecture to great effect to ensure that devices feel snappy and responsive.
The Homescreen Evolves
The Homescreen, starting point for all user interaction, evolves in Symbian^3. Find that you can’t squeeze all the widgets you need onto one page, or want separate pages for personal and work widgets? No problem, the Homescreen now supports multiple pages of widgets and a simple flick gesture to move between them. The number of Homescreen pages is limited only by available memory.
Want to show multiple email accounts or weather forecasts for more than one city? No problem, in Symbian^3 the Homescreen gains support for multiple instances of a native widget.
The Homescreen also gains an improved Widget Manager configuration interface that provides a rich UI for downloading new Homescreen widgets. Widgets gain the ability to extend their UI, for example when the user selects a widget. The extended UI can be any size and is displayed on top of other widgets as a floating element.
As in previous releases widgets can be created in either web runtime (using HTML, Javascript etc) or natively using Qt, C++ or standard C. Symbian^3 sees the addition of support for Adobe FlashLite widgets (so long as a FlashLite player is available in your device).
More entertaining – HD video, smart remote controls, interactive radio, podcasts
There’s a lot happening in Symbian^3 in the multimedia space:
HDMI Output: The latest phones can do almost everything your set-top box or PC can – only you can fit it in your pocket! But sometimes that pocket-sized screen just isn’t big enough – for example, showing your holiday photos and videos to family and friends, or watching a movie at home. Wouldn’t it be great if that pocket-sized screen could grow when needed – so it was big when you wanted it to be? With HDMI Output, this is easy – just plug your phone into your TV and see your movies and photos on a screen measuring feet, not just inches! And movies arent the end of the story – just think about the possibilities of big screen gaming.
Symbian^3 brings support for HDMI v1.3a and above plus HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection). The Photos, Music Player and Video Player applications have been updated to output to HDMI when a connector is attached.

Full remote control for your music player: See track and artist names and browse your music collection direct from the screen on your Bluetooth headset or remote control. Change playlist without having to take your device out of your pocket. The technology behind this is v1.4 of the Bluetooth Audio/Video Remote Control Profile (AVRCP v1.4) – a headset or remote with matching Bluetooth support will be required. Symbian^3 also brings stack-level support for a Symbian device acting in the “remote control” role to browse the media on any other player that supports Bluetooth AVRCP v1.4.
Music store integration in the Radio app – making radio interactive. Ever heard a great song on the radio and wanted to know what it was or buy it then and there? The new “Buy now” button in the Radio app solves this problem by using RT+ RDS metadata to link through to the user’s chosen music store, providing them with relevant info on the current song and artist and letting them make an immediate purchase if they wish to. Music store plug-ins can be supplied by a device creator or carrier or downloaded and installed by the user themselves.
Podcast management: The Podcasts app, new in Symbian^3, allows you to manage podcast subscriptions and automatically download new shows to a predefined schedule, integrating with the music and video players for playback. With the Podcasts app in place you’ll always have something new to listen to.
Next generation graphics:A new 2D and 3D graphics architecture paves the way for a faster and more engaging user interface by enabling hardware acceleration of all graphics operations. Applications such as Photos take full advantage to enhance their look and feel, integrating effects such as fades and transitions between their various screens. Semi-transparent UI elements are supported, great for example when overlaying controls or notifications onto video during playback. Combined with industry-standard OpenGL ES, the new architecture also provides a great platform for high performance games – all without slowing the phone down. And all these features can scale to the capabilities of the hardware, allowing everything from simpler, cheaper phones to feature-rich, high-end devices.
Better data networking:One-click connectivity greatly simplifies the process of connecting to the Internet, doing the right thing without interrupting the user. It delivers a consistent and simple experience across all network-aware applications, streamlining the UI to remove all unnecessary prompts and dialogs. New global settings allow the user to configure platform-wide behaviour, for example ensuring the device automatically switches from cellular to WLAN when a free WLAN network is available. See the One Click Connectivity page and feature 565 for more details.
Smart network management: Under the covers Symbian^3 delivers a new core data networking architecture (known variously as “Three Plane Comms” or “FreeWay”). An application is able to indicate that it has particular service requirements such as high bandwidth (eg for speedy video upload) or jitter control (eg for smooth streaming of internet radio). The system seamlessly balances each individual application’s needs to deliver the best possible overall user experience.
Core improvements: Symbian^3’s new networking architecture and related optimisations also deliver throughput and jitter improvements to all data-enabled applications. This future-proofs the platform ready for the high bandwidth 4G networks that will roll out over the next few years. This industry-leading architecture provides a great basis for VoIP, audio and video streaming and efficient use of high bandwidth networks of all kinds.

There is still a lot of time before we finally see this new symbian offering from Nokia in their future new phone release, though rumours are getting strong that the X9 will definately have this new OS.

Waiting for more....

Nokia Supernova 7610 a stylist review

Nokia Supernova 7610 a stylist review

Nokia has always been my each new device tries to make special for at least a little. Model 7610 in this regard given to the vintage swap guards and able to adapt the color theme. Of course, remember not to the strong performance equipment.

Maybe some Witnesses recall the original device with the numerical designation 7610, which saw the light of the world in 2004. Then it was a smart phone with a keyboard and unusual spiral bold color administration. Colors are a privilege today reviewed the device, but unfortunately with terms of the open operating system that is not so hot.

Nokia 7610 Supernova comes as the name implies, the new model series, which currently fall even further three stylish phones. Specifically, it is a Clam shell (7510) and two instruments with traditional structures (7210 and 7310). The main assets of this model series has become a conversation jacket, in which individual members are actually good. Today came an earful Telescopic device, which is a page table parameters of the smartest of all the other colleagues. But does not saying that the one-eyed king among the blind?

Brief description: The stylish device, which deliver an especially replaceable covers and creating their own color schemes. Most of the shortcomings can be overlooked under certain conditions.

The appearance and structure - coats full cabinet

Nokia 7610 will attract your attention very bright front side, which is practically not noticeable edge of the display. The whole is protected by a plastic glass, under which they are situated and chrome parts. Fortunately, on this surface is not too noticeable fingerprints, but display the entire 7610 model line lost a duel with the sun.

The back of the phone covers, including the sides of a single piece of plastic. The basic packages in our case we found the light blue and dark blue variation of the back cover.

After the appearance of a page from us of the two, which may be above the white top of not debug supplied guards. Unnecessary blot is that covers slightly exceed Telescopic part, which is not exactly the best. The average mark can be assessed and dimensions of 98 x 48 x 15 mm and the weight of 99 grams.

Keyboards and control - attention to the music

Even in this part of all is not perfect and Nokia has committed several changes. Turning first to be processed wrong side buttons to regulate the volume and direct execution last played songs. The two key practically coincide with housing and many will become the mistake some of them holding the phone in the press and inadvertently starts the music player.

Other problems include the upper range of alphanumeric keyboard, which is not too far from the very top of, and often it will strike thumb. Writing text falls into something worse on average because each key is pressed on all sides and leans on the certainty that certainly is not. In addition, the key to a total depth lapse into the body of the device and you feel unnecessarily surrounding plastic grid, which separates the various buttons. On the other hand, we have to thank four guideline key, which definitely helped more with the middle confirmation key.

Nokia has by default inherently it the environment Series 40th This much we analyze and deliver just that in some respects the equally smarter Series 60 Novelty is the ability to instantly change the color theme. Just aim the camera at a significant, if possible, shade and wait for about twenty seconds before the device will prepare a new color scheme, including the part corresponding to the backlight of four key target. Most appropriate for ladies to them much of their clothes look like on a color motif of their phone.

Display and the battery time - classic on all fronts

The not display is the parameters of the normal standard, so you can again look forward to a resolution of 240x320 pixels and 16 million colors. As already mentioned in the introduction, with its readability in direct sunlight it is not famous.

Average holds the battery time, which in our energy supply test equipment throughout the four days. Sometimes this figure has fallen to two to three days, according to the power we have worked with the phone. Indeed, ever, the phone survives at night and endurance testing in about fifteen minutes a call, SMS and sent some two hours listening to music for the declared period of time.

Telephone directory and reports - all as it should be

Nokia 7610 again benefited considerably from the Series 40 user interface and offers so phonebook with a capacity of 2000 contacts, which can add a wealth of data. Remember, or for sorting contacts into groups, filtering calls or exemplary synchronization with the desktop computer.

The best you can expect from this series, and in terms of text messages. Editor fair count has written characters and shows in several parts of the report distributed. Although the T9 dictionary says with an accent, there is no shortening of the reports. The standard equipment includes an email client that will satisfy most users.

Organizer and multimedia - for work and for fun

Calendar and the usual set of simple phrases, converter "everything all" and a repeated alarm supplements should be a global search in the phone, the Nokia Maps and Opera Mini. You are only connect to the Internet via GPRS and EDGE, where appropriate.

Our entertainment purpose Nokia 7610 features a music player that can sort all the songs perfectly. We also FM radio with RDS, for a start must have attached headphones. These, together with microUSB cable, 512MB memory card and the aforementioned exchange housing can be found in the basic package.

Camera model 7610 is a rather disappointing. Although generally has a decent table assumptions (3.2 Mpix and automatic sharpening), the resulting photos are responsible rather average. The biggest wrinkles on the forehead probably will not do a good sharpness of images. However, it is gratifying for the LED and the ability to record video at a resolution of 640x480 pixels at 30 frames per second.

Finally - a pleasant Style Statement

Nokia 7610 Supernova will play on any smart-ass, and it is simply style statement that you can have. Even the fact that reigns with its equipment in a series of Supernova, it does when looking at the competition, no champion. In addition, Nokia 7610 you must forgive some structural weaknesses, which we mentioned above easily about the confusing side key players.

If you do not like the Nokia 7610 in terms of appearance, look for other competitors. Of those, we chose many representatives of LG (eg KF510), Samsung U600 and Sony Ericsson S500i. If you do not want to be so conspicuous, it is advantageous purchase team colleague Nokia 3600 Slide or model 6210 Navigator, which has the name says almost everything.

Nokia 6600 slide and flip some details and review

Nokia 6600 slide and flip details and review.

Tiny, yet remarkably solid, like a pebble tumbled smooth by the waves, there's something about Nokia 6600 slide that's really hard to resist. By the way, minimalist, extra smooth and exclusive stand equally well for any of the 6600 pair. While flip for gals and slide for lads may not exactly be set in concrete, gender-free demand is more likely for the black 6600 slide.

Of the same build and pricing, both the 6600 flip and the today's 6600 fold are a treat to look at and handle. The differences in gear are minor, boiling down to a fair try to fine-tune the supply. The OLED screen and electromagnetic push-to-open in the flip are swapped for a 3-megapixel shooter and USB-on-the-go. Little secrets won't stay in the closet but there's enough disarming charm to go around.

Nokia 6600 fold

Smoking hot body, brilliant looks, user-friendly interface and almost no value for money, but still packing quite a punch - Nokia 6600 fold is exactly the kind of meal to order from an unpriced menu. The OLED screen, the cool magnetic flip and the mirror front panel just make it all the sweeter and kind of make sure it feels more at home in designer handbags than pockets. Now, that's where we come in with a little bit of good sense chicks will ignore anyway. And who knows, they may be right in the end.

Key features
Cute design Compact body
2.13" 16M-color OLED display of QVGA resolution

Bold color scheme and intriguing one-touch flip, Nokia 6600 fold sure knows how to make a good first impression. The gradated mirror front looks and feels extra smooth and the exotic OLED display adds another touch of exclusivity. And it definitely isn't a "Mirror, mirror on the wall, is there anyone there at all".

A double tap on the opaque glazed front will light up the hidden secondary screen for time and missed events.

The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic [TUBE] First Look...

Meet Nokia's Smarter Iphone

While its not Nokia's first touchscreen phone (anyone out there remember the 7710?), the 5800 XpressMusic is certainly the first to come out of Finland with a mainstream appeal. What we've alternately known as the "Tube" throughout much of its development cycle is the first production device to run S60 5th Edition -- the fourth major overhaul of Nokia's ubiquitous smartphone platform since 2002 and the first to support fingers, styli, and high-res displays. Speaking of high-res displays, the 5800 comes equipped with an impressive 3.2-inch 640 x 360 resistive touchscreen to go along with its 3.2-megapixel autofocus cam, Carl Zeiss optics, dual LED flash, GPS, WiFi, 3.5mm jack, and a microSD slot with support for 16GB cards. It'll be available in three versions -- European HSDPA, North American HSDPA, and GSM only -- and ships this quarter in black, red, and blue for €279 (about $392) unlocked with an 8GB card thrown in for good measure. Music fans with voracious appetites for new tunes might want to hold out, though, for the Comes With Music-equipped version that follows on "early next year" at a to-be-announced price.

Nokia N95 Meets It's Evil Brother

The Nokia N95-1 was truly a marvelous accomplishment that was unrivaled at the time, and remains strong even now, a year and a half later. It was the most talked about S60 smartphone, the most ambitious juggernaut Nokia cleverly named 'multimedia computer'.

So it wasn't long before Nokia, in front of the huge success, spawned several updated versions of the smartphone.

One of them was N95-2, yet another ambitious Nokia phone, but the word 'update' makes me kind of scratch my head. I'm well aware most of you already know everything about the N95-2 so I won't do the usual review here. Instead, I'll write my own impressions of the N95-2 through comparisons to the N95-1, it's older brother.

I've also included pics with some noteworthy views of the phone. Enjoy!

PROS:

Increased Ram does make the difference. And the difference is around 50 mb, which greatly helps at improving the phone usability at certain things. Mostly I notice the difference when surfing with the Safari browser: I haven't experienced even a single memory low warning, also the browser almost never crashed. Other thing I noticed is the gallery produces picture thumbnails faster, but, other than the mentioned things, it feels pretty the same like the original N95 with the demand paging implemented in the newer fws.

8Gb memory is sufficient for most of the needs, if you don't take the term ''multimedia computer'' too serious that is. At least I haven't managed to fill it up. I was downloading podcasts extensively, without deleting any older ones, stored converted videos without taking their size into account, music etc. While it's still possible to fill up the memory and it can't be increased, the 8GB of stored space still delivers a certain degree of freedom for some time being. And when 8GB finally starts to feel cramped, you'll long be on a newer device.

The back cover blends even better now with the rest of the phone's classic, yet stylish design, and feels in hand more coherent with the rest of the phone (although the color pallet can be noticed a tone different than the upper part, which is darker).

The 3.5 mm audio jack is placed the same place as on the N95-1. Why is it a positive thing? Think how awkward it would be to have earphones plugged in while using the multimedia buttons. I really doubt the usefulness of audio jack top placement on the newer Nokia double sliders.

Thanks to the clever design of the audio jack (see pic abowe), it's possible to place the phone on it's side, and enjoy some videos. Isn't it a good thing ?!

The music keys are extruded now, and compared to the N95-1, their usability is really improved, allowing to press the right key without looking at them. After using the phone some time, I realized I'm using the music keys more often than I did with the N95-1.

The numeric keypad remains the same, but it's hard to say it's a bad thing. They could've had a bit more spacing between them, but I consider them to be good enough.

The menu and multimedia keys are another excellent improvement over the older one's. Even though they're smaller (about 1/2 their original size), they are slightly extruded rather than totally flat, and therefore more easily to operate with.

The new design of the phone also means that the old problems with the 'c' and 'pencil' keys are partially resolved here too. It's a lot harder now to accidentally press the red or 'End' key when using the 'c' key. They could have been a bit bigger though.
