Opera Mobile 9.5 beta out[HTC Touch Support]

Opera Mobile 9.5 beta

Opera Mobile 9.5, which is part of the latest programming equipment communicators HTC, is now free to download in the second beta version. Try it and you are so far the best mobile Web browser.

There is no doubt that Opera Mobile 9.5 is currently the best internet browser that can view Web pages on the phone display.

Beta 2 brings a lot of particular improvements and bug fixes, not all but a user must necessarily notice. But certainly confused significantly faster loading site and the subsequent displacement is already loaded pages.

New is also a smooth zoom, which previously had to implement the steps, double-click the display will ensure the maximum possible approach, or delay. This gesture is, of course, continue to be supported.

Great expectations Opera inserted into their widgets, which allow quick access to preset Web tools. Widgets to a large extent they intend to use the operators themselves, which shows widget for a Web service Web'n'walk from T-Mobile.

As is apparent from the previous line, not a final version of the product, which corresponds to the current distribution of freeware and, therefore, the authors warn against several well-known ills.

Known issues
  • ActiveX is disabled - Flash plugins and embedded video streaming do not work.
  • Custom software keyboards (IME) will be buggy at best, not working at worst.
  • No multilingual build - Only English is supported. Problems with other languages (and input methods) are not unexpected.
  • Installation on memory cards may cause problems.
  • Text wraps in overview mode.
  • Main testing has been done on English HTC devices (Touch Diamond, Touch Pro, Touch, Touch Dual, Touch Cruise, TyTN and Wizard) and Samsung i900.
  • Landscape mode does not take keyboard position into consideration.
  • Devices with low memory might get Out Of Memory (OOM) messages.
  • Opera is always running when the Widgets Manager is running.
  • On devices with hight DPI some of the pre-installed widgets look small.
  • When an URL is opened from a widget, there will be an extra browser window opened in the background that's not working properly.

Despite these shortcomings is an excellent application, which has found the winner. About the qualities are also easy to convince yourself you can download and install the file.

HTC Touch HD... A comparison with Iphone

HTC Touch HD

Look at the best cell phone today. Has a huge fine display, it is fast and can everything from mobile phones can now want.

Top mobile phone now, finally arrived at our table. Exclusively we got the opportunity to try the latest addition to the portfolio of Taiwanese manufacturer HTC Touch HD.

Touch vs. HD. iPhone 3G

Check the comparision images above

Already at the first view of the Touch HD is direct incomparison with the iPhone. It's the big touch screen, minimum hardware keys, above average width and sympathic thickness of 12 mm. That HTC could not be accused of copying the look, designers chose the iPhone slightly sharper lines and metal circuit replace the dark shiny plastic. The phone is due to rounded edges very nicely holds in his hand, is not disruptive and his weight 146 g.

Who is prettier? And who thinner? Better capable and useful?

Back covers of most of the slip change soft-touch, which both prevent the movement of the phone from his hand and especially to each other leaving visible prints. In the top of the metal to offset anti-scratch given lens 5Mpx sensors with autofocusem, which unfortunately does not accompany the LED flash.

Resistance to dirt on the other hand, does not apply to the front part of the phone, which consists almost exclusively surface display. Protective glass covers the surface from the edge to edge, so there is need cleaning. HTC promises that, thanks to alleged glass should not occur in normal use to scratch the surface.

Elegant design lines had to retreat several controls. Instead, this left the function or directional buttons. Below the display can be found only four of sensor keys, two of which are designed to receive or reject / end call button with domečkem to return to the home screen and arrow to act back.

Quick, capacity and convienent

Many elements, or find the perimeter of the phone. In the lower right corner is a hidden stylus, which is next to the new HTC fingers also operate. The underside of the occupying Ext (mini) USB connector with trojpravoúhlým section. He serves on the mounting data cable supplied in the sales package, and chargers. Headphones this due to the presence of a standard 3.5 mm audio connector receiving position at the top edge. Here also lies the traditional key to enable / revival of the device.

Wide badge - fashion communicators recent

The last button on the whole surface of the phone is located on the left side and clamshell form is used to regulate the volume. So instead of pressing to trigger the camera button voice notes, communications manager or the Jog Dial.

The main pride communicator is a complete data equipment and connectivity, which is currently can be found. Of course it is Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, 3G data module, including HSDPA, and GPS. The only thing we seek in vain, the survival of Infrared.

HTC Touch HD is one of the few Windows Mobile communicators and as the first representative of brand 3.5 mm audio jack • turn-on button • • stylus sensor keys below the display

HTC Touch HD used to work fast processor stepping on the 528 MHz and a sufficient amount of 288 MB of RAM. Thanks to these parameters is to work with the environment of knowledge no less than for other Windows Mobile communicators. Was implemented again version 6.1 Professional operating system from Microsoft.

Masterful display

Why you HTC Touch HD deserves to be compared with the iPhone is the user interface TouchFlo 3D. This is still refined and successfully throughout the structure to the otherwise little rigid system. In some applications (music player, camera), so you never get to the classic Windows mobile environment.

Thanks to huge color active display with a diagonal measurement of 3.8 "and an excellent resolution of 480 x 800 pixels is a touch easier control of a finger. Even in the nested parts of the system and context menus does not have to be drag the stylus - the font and icons are large enough and can accurately hit . Greater in. I may have a problem when writing on the virtual keyboard.

5 megapixel camera unfortunately lacks the flash

The display not only responds to the movement of a finger (stylus), but also to the sensitivity of pressing. This feature is necessary, for example, in camera, which take account of the failure to print the hardware button must touch the trigger. On the weaker side finger object adjust the focus on strongly on the camera capturing the image. However, the iPhone screen is still not ready to multishot control, and so can not use certain intuitive gestures, for example, when zooming photos.

Death iPhone and who else?

The back cover is plastic and its lowering is just perfect. There is a need to develop a relatively great power in his bottom and then push upwards. In the belly of the hidden battery with a capacity of 1 350 mAh, which according to initial findings endurance record does not in any way, especially in the intensive use of the device. Under the cover is added to the SIM card and memory card microSD (HC). That can extend 512 megabytes of internal memory to Max. The slots for the cards lurks a breath speaker and tiny red button reset.

While the new HTC Touch HD from well-known reasons, often compared with the iPhone, direct competition is mainly for the communicator of the Samsung i900 Omnia, to a lesser extent, may jeopardize the Diamond in their own ranks. Over the two devices clearly stands out in particular to its large and fine display, and in this context, the more comfortable control without having to use a stylus.

The best mobile device currently benefiting mainly from facilities in addition to its agility in placing on the market. Following the presentation in mid-September should have less than two months later get into the stores at a price of around 800 dollers. It can not wait.

Motorola AURA

Motorola AURA

We will be the first to admit that we give Motorola a hard time for coming up with products that are frankly disappointing. But the new Motorola AURA shows that Motorola can still come up with handsets that are innovative and have plenty of "wow factor".

The good news is that this is a very exciting device. The bad news is that the SIM-free price in the US is a shocking $1999.99 (about £1200 or €1500) when it launches in December (you can pre-order it now). We could easily come up with 101 reasons why you shouldn't spend that much money on what is basically a fashion phone.. so we're going to give you some reasons why you should instead.

Let's get something out of the way first - at its heart, the Motorola AURA is not a particularly sophisticated phone. It's a simple quad-band GSM device, with a basic 2 megapixel digital camera and 2GB of internal memory. The AURA lacks 3G support, WiFi or GPS.. if these things are important to you, then there are plenty of better things to spend your money on.

But there are plenty of things that make the Motorola AURA unique - firstly, it's a very rare "rotator" handset. Motorola have done this before, back in 2002 with the Motorola V70, but that was six years ago and the whole format looks completely fresh. Yes, to an extent the Nokia 7373 and the old Motorola V80 do the same thing.. but they aren't in the same league as the AURA. A lot of work has gone into the rotating mechanism, but we will look at that more in a moment.

The other truly remarkable thing is the display.. this isn't a rectangular display in a circular housing, the AURA actually has a circular LCD display that is 480 pixels and 1.55 inches in diameter. We don't know how practical this is, especially when displaying web pages, but we can say that it is very cool indeed. The 16 million colour screen is protected by a sapphire crystal lens to prevent scratches, something that presumably adds a great deal to the price.

The bulk of the phone is made from a chemically etched stainless steel housing that has been hand polished and given a protective coating. Motorola says that it takes two weeks to make the front piece of the phone, which again helps to account for some of the cost. The aluminium keys are individually made and finished before being assembled, and there are interesting features such as nickel-chrome plated exposed screws.

Even the rotating mechanism is pretty cool - there are 130 precision ball-bearings, hardened steel gears and Swiss engineering to create something that is a cross between racing car design and precision clockwork. Motorola say that the idea is that the mechanism should work just as well the 100,000th time it is used as it did on the first time.

Despite the lack of 3G or WiFi, the Motorola AURA does come with a comprehensive media player supporting MP3, AAC and Windows Media formats. There's a web browser and email client, and the AURA feature's Motorola's useful CrystalTalk technology for improved call clarity. The AURA also has stereo Bluetooth 2.0 and USB 2.0. Some of Motorola's technical specifications mention microSD memory, although it is possible that this is an error.

It's quite a heavy device at 141 grams, but in terms of size it is pocket friendly at 97 x 48 x 19mm. Talktime is around 7 hours with up to 16 days standby time.

Let's be honest - the Motorola AURA is an insanely over-engineered device with a price tag to match. A handset such as the Samsung i8510 will deliver much more when it comes to "traditional" phone features and it is an awful lot cheaper. But the AURA is easily the coolest phone on the market, with a design that should appeal both to the fashion conscious and those that can appreciate the advanced engineering that has gone into it.

The launch date in the US is 4th December, with other regions slated for Q4 2008.

HTC Touch HD will be the second telephone Android?

HTC Touch HD will be the second telephone Android?

The most highly anticipated is always only one. In the field of Windows Mobile communicators to the present, the HTC Touch HD. Internet from circulating yesterday on speculation that the device could be a second phone platform Android.

The biggest advantage of the new HD Touch is undoubtedly a giant screen, which you measured by the diagonal of the entire ninety-six mm. Thanks to such a large display will be the vast majority of the operations carried out without the need for drawn touch pen.

Control of the fingers is predestined new mobile platform called Android. The advantages as the first show in the body, T-Mobile G1. The second telephone Android would PhoneDog according to the server could become the HTC Touch HD.

It is of course on unfounded information, although according to the words of Noah Kravitz met two mutually independent sources. Neither one of them is not a direct link to HTC or T-Mobile. It is clear that the Americans variation Touch HD welcomed, as the version with Windows Mobile, according to all sources. That it was actually some truth? Have no choice but to wait to be referred to speculation finally confirmed.

Nokia 6600 slide and flip some details and review

Nokia 6600 slide and flip details and review.

Tiny, yet remarkably solid, like a pebble tumbled smooth by the waves, there's something about Nokia 6600 slide that's really hard to resist. By the way, minimalist, extra smooth and exclusive stand equally well for any of the 6600 pair. While flip for gals and slide for lads may not exactly be set in concrete, gender-free demand is more likely for the black 6600 slide.

Of the same build and pricing, both the 6600 flip and the today's 6600 fold are a treat to look at and handle. The differences in gear are minor, boiling down to a fair try to fine-tune the supply. The OLED screen and electromagnetic push-to-open in the flip are swapped for a 3-megapixel shooter and USB-on-the-go. Little secrets won't stay in the closet but there's enough disarming charm to go around.

Nokia 6600 fold

Smoking hot body, brilliant looks, user-friendly interface and almost no value for money, but still packing quite a punch - Nokia 6600 fold is exactly the kind of meal to order from an unpriced menu. The OLED screen, the cool magnetic flip and the mirror front panel just make it all the sweeter and kind of make sure it feels more at home in designer handbags than pockets. Now, that's where we come in with a little bit of good sense chicks will ignore anyway. And who knows, they may be right in the end.

Key features
Cute design Compact body
2.13" 16M-color OLED display of QVGA resolution

Secondary external 1.36" hidden OLED display (128 x 160 pixels)

Steep price for the features offered
Unimpressive camera performance

No smart dialing

No multi-tasking
No office document viewer

Bold color scheme and intriguing one-touch flip, Nokia 6600 fold sure knows how to make a good first impression. The gradated mirror front looks and feels extra smooth and the exotic OLED display adds another touch of exclusivity. And it definitely isn't a "Mirror, mirror on the wall, is there anyone there at all".

A double tap on the opaque glazed front will light up the hidden secondary screen for time and missed events.

BlackBerry Curve 8900

BlackBerry Curve 8900 Preview

Expected November 2008

T-Mobile Germany have accidentally let slip details on the new BlackBerry Curve 8900, a slightly cut-down GSM-only version of the BlackBerry Bold 9000.

According to T-Mobile, the Curve 8900 has both WiFi and GPS, comes with a 480 x 360 pixel display (a higher pixel count than the 9000), Bluetooth and some unspecified type of digital camera.

The large 1400 mAh battery is quoted as giving a surprisingly short 4 hours talktime and 16 days standby time. Although this isn't a 3G phone, it does support EDGE data in addition to GPRS and local WLAN connections. If you're using it for email, then the lack of 3G won't be a real problem.

LG KC780: 8 megapixel slider

LG KC780: 8 megapixel slider

Eight megapixel camera phones are still pretty rare, so you would expect a manufacturer to make a song and dance about a new model. Not so with the LG KC780, which has had a very low-key launch from its manufacturer.

As with the new LG Renoir, the camera capabilities on the KC780 look pretty awesome. The 8 megapixel camera has autofocus and comes with a Schneider-Kreuznach certified lens. The camera has low-light sensitivity and can also compensate for scenes that are too brightly lit. Although LG don't mention a flash, it does look like there might be one on the back. The camera also has advanced face detection, image stabilisation and picture manipulation features. LG say that the KC780 can also capture D1 "DVD quality" video, which should mean a minimum of 640 x 480 pixels at 30 frames per second.

There are some clever Bluetooth 2.1 tricks with the KC780 - you can use it as a webcam via a Bluetooth connection, or send and receive text messages through your PC.

There is also a multimedia player, FM radio, web browser and email client plus a microSD slot to expand the 140MB of onboard memory up to 8GB. Multimedia playback looks good with support for all popular media types, plus DivX movies. The KC780 also has a document viewer which supports most common file types.

As you can see from the photos, the LG KC780 looks like a conventional slider from the front, but more like a camera from the back. In fact, the design of the camera reminds us a little of the old Sharp 902. The display is a 2.4" 240 x 320 pixel panel, which is fairly standard these days.

So far, so good.. but the LG KC780 has a couple of serious drawbacks - the main one being that it doesn't support 3G, and WiFi support would have been nice too. You might remember that we criticised the Motorola ZINE ZN5 for being a brilliant camera grafted to a pretty ordinary phone.. and the KC780 suffers from the same weaknesses (except that the ZN5 did at least have WiFi). Remember though that the LG KC780 isn't a flagship device.. but it is a somewhat mismatched combination in our view.

Talktime is up to 6 hours with a maximum of around 18 days standby time. At 119 grams and 107 x 52 x 14mm, the LG KC780 is perhaps a little on the heavy side.

LG say that the KC780 should be available in Europe during November, followed by the CIS and Asia Pacific markets. There's no indication on price, but we expect it to be a lot cheaper than the new LG Renoir.

BlackBerry's Storm attack on Iphone

The Nokia 5800 XpressMusic [TUBE] First Look...

Meet Nokia's Smarter Iphone

While its not Nokia's first touchscreen phone (anyone out there remember the 7710?), the 5800 XpressMusic is certainly the first to come out of Finland with a mainstream appeal. What we've alternately known as the "Tube" throughout much of its development cycle is the first production device to run S60 5th Edition -- the fourth major overhaul of Nokia's ubiquitous smartphone platform since 2002 and the first to support fingers, styli, and high-res displays. Speaking of high-res displays, the 5800 comes equipped with an impressive 3.2-inch 640 x 360 resistive touchscreen to go along with its 3.2-megapixel autofocus cam, Carl Zeiss optics, dual LED flash, GPS, WiFi, 3.5mm jack, and a microSD slot with support for 16GB cards. It'll be available in three versions -- European HSDPA, North American HSDPA, and GSM only -- and ships this quarter in black, red, and blue for €279 (about $392) unlocked with an 8GB card thrown in for good measure. Music fans with voracious appetites for new tunes might want to hold out, though, for the Comes With Music-equipped version that follows on "early next year" at a to-be-announced price.
